Reading your quick analyses on the latest chapter made me wonder. Do you think there is any possibility that the facility in which Finny was held is also related to Undertaker?
That’s highly unlikely… unless the drug tested on Finny was later used for someone like Polaris. Otherwise, it seems too broad of a scope for his attentions. Mostly, it seems too early for Undertaker to be interested in anything more than cinematic records and how to revive the dead.
Finny’s experience seems too far removed from anything Undertaker was doing, and I don’t mean physical distance. Undertaker could easily be up to something in Germany, as he definitely has something going on in France, but it’s likely not drug testing, and even less likely for strength-enhancing drugs.
It would be interesting if Undertaker turns out to be the main person in the Osiris group… and he was just lying about being interested in drugs. Stoker definitely fell for his lie that all of this revival technology was purely medical science.
Even if Undertaker is with the Osiris group, I don’t think they are particularly concerned with strength-enhancing drugs… unless, like I said, he finds use for it with bizarre dolls like Polaris.
It’s important to note that none of the bizarre dolls on the ship seem to have much strength. Finny was dosed with whatever for an extended amount of time, and he’s the first to join the Phantomhive household after Sebastian. By the time the “animal weapons” are set loose on the ship, Undertaker should have been able to get them all dosed, especially if he told Stoker the drug would help with the revival process. It wouldn’t have been administered over a long time for them, but it would be a somewhat fresh dose.
Undertaker comes up with all sorts of ideas, based on various information and his own observations. Even if he later uses strength-enhancing drugs on bizarre dolls, it’s probably technology he took… not something he helped develop.
I’d look at the German military. Maybe Diedrich knows something about it, much like he found and pulled the top secret files about the witch project. He might have helped our earl on that drug testing facility, too.
Of course, Mabel wants to get Ginny out of the tank, but we don’t know if that would be good or bad. We don’t know whether Ginny is even alive or dead. Theo can only stare in shock and horror.
Finny realizes things are even worse.
They can’t do much else because staff are coming.
Thankfully, the staff don’t seem to realize anything has been tampered with. They think everything has been “packed up” and is ready to go (or stay, idk).
But Susan (?) reminds them that Ginny’s fledging was unexpected and asks who is next.
And ah. Now we know why Theo is so scared.
What will these top students do now, knowing that Theo is next to fledge? I guess that largely depends on how much time they have….
Mabel didn’t know because she was probably too busy to snoop around too much, honestly.

In his head, Finny confirms this is a dissection table… or at least can be used for that purpose. Also, we finally have confirmation that the drug testing facility was German.
Really odd to say “ceased to function”, but that might be part of how Finny dealt with death back then.
Ugh, it’s just so sad to see her like this.

After all the posting I did for the spoilers, idk that I have terribly much to add here, but there are a few things.
Like how – yes – Jonathan and Wordsworth prove quite useful by using the horse to show them all that the ground below is hollow. Artie is so argumentative and doesn’t see value in much of anything, does he? I hope he’s learned something from this.
Ok, so Jonathan could smell Ginny under the horse, but it took Wordsworth to realize the sound wasn’t right for stone flooring.
Then they are easily able to find the release for the hatch door.
Oh yes. I managed to get the chapter through Kobo a few minutes ago.

Now I’m gonna dredge up some old posts of mine about Mother3 parallels… as well as references made to it in an s2 OVA. Here in 2016, I talk about Dr. Andonuts’ lab compared to the one in that Kuro OVA. Here’s a post that also includes Sieglinde’s lab. A big part of why I have to include Sieglinde’s lab in England is because of this scene (ch114). Notice the tanks to the lower right:
I used to have more posts about this… or perhaps they are just tagged a certain way that it’s hard for me to find them. Anyway, notice that some of the Mother3 tanks have people inside, while some just have organs or systems, like nervous systems.
